The amount of time it takes for you to receive a settlement lump sum from the sale of your structured settlement can vary from 30 to 45 days, and in some cases can take up to two months. While the customer representatives at CBC make every attempt to see that you receive your settlement lump sum as quickly as possible, there are circumstances beyond our control that may cause the process to take longer. Some of these include:
- Individual state laws governing the sale and transfer of structured settlements: these vary from one state to the next and can have an impact on the length of time it requires structured settlement companies to complete such transactions.
- The courts: if there are many petitions in front of a judge, this can add to the time necessary to complete the process.
Once you have accepted CBC’s offer for your structured settlement, we will send you written documentation within 24 hours. You may wish to have your own attorney examine these documents before you sign them and return them to us. Once the signed documents are in our possession, our legal experts will file them with the court on your behalf. At this point, there is nothing more to do than wait for the judge to grant the petition. As stated earlier, this can take from one to two months, depending on various factors.
Once the court has approved the transaction, settlement funding can go very quickly. We can transfer your money directly to your bank account electronically, or send you a check via certified mail or a private courier service, whichever you prefer.
CBC Settlement Funding is a structured settlement buyer and will make every attempt to provide you with the best service while getting your transaction funded within the shortest amount of time allowed by law.
